At home in the shadows of the night, Count Caine used to be a famous and feared Monster Hunter, hunting Werewolves and Vampires alike back then in the days when he is still human. One day, he fell in love with a beautiful damsel on a small village. They eventually become friends, until that fateful day that she just suddenly disappeared, just about the time when he is about to confess his true feelings for her and ask her hand in Marriage. He searched the whole village for her day and night, until one day he found out the truth: A clan of werewolves is actually secretly terrorizing the whole village. The clan promised that they would stop terrorizing the village if they would gave them some maidens as offerings for reasons unclear, and the damned damsel he loved is one of them. Their fate is not yet really known until now, and even the name of the clan responsible. This incident totally affected the Count, driving him mad and bore a grudge against werewolves and humans alike, the very people he had sworn to protect. Realizing that he needed more power, he made a deal one day with a Vampire that he was supposed to hunt and slay, a Vampire called Rai Zanders, she made a pact with her that he wouldn’t hunt her down in exchange that she would turn him into one of their kind. Rai agreed, and right after turning into a Vampire he went into an insane rampage and annihilated everyone in that village. The two eventually became allies later on. Now Lord Caine Darkstalker, the Lord of Death, stalking the shadows of the night, mercilessly attacking and slaying every Werewolf he could find and take on, as he searched for clues for that Werewolf clan responsible and search and retrieve for his love one just incase she happens to be still alive. Taking advantage of his vast wealth from his former life to further his own goal.
