Gabriel is the Angel of Death. As a minion of the heavens he was tasked with blessing all creatures with passage into eternity. Gabriel is sometimes associated with the color Blue, the direction West (or North), or the element Water; his horse is named Haizum. Gabriel is also variously identified as the angel of death. Furthermore, the Archangel has also been identified in various sources to be one of the 7 Archangels who stand in the presence of God; he is also claimed variously be a tafsarim (chief angelic prince) of the Cherub, Virtue, Power, Archangel, and Angel celestial orders. The governor of the Moon and Monday also are ascribed to Gabriel; finally, the Archangel is also the ruler of Shamayim, the First Heaven.
While delivering peace on Earth Gabriel was taken by an ambitious vampire, Azalaya Silverthorne, who gave him the kiss of un-death. In his human form he was unable to fight back and has been locked in a corporeal form of the Angel of Death.
Now a vampire, Gabriel is gaining strength to return to the heavens as God's death knell. He has recently attained the status of Archon for the Clan of Matthew. An Archon in the son of Caine's clan indictaes that the Angel of Death is a champion on the field of battle, claiming in excess of 30 more victories than defeats.
