Her eyes open to find before her a two-imagery mirror; you see me, yet you see her. Which is real? She slowly kneels before it and through this mirror she sees the back of a man; a woman lying in his arms. Even as her fingers play at a pleat in her skirt, she realizes that woman’s dress is the same. She realizes that woman…is her. Whispers of voices play about her ears as she can see the gathering of people, heard her once lover say. “Her warmth dissipated, in my embrace. No tremble or stutter of words, though lifeless; until she was cold as the dead we walk over in disrespect.” She groaned in a gentle longing for life and in her mind said “Oh, sweet silhouette— please love, shed no tear….” With that, she felt the hands of the one who made her gently lift her to her feet, she turned, and never did she look back.
