Sans Merci was born as Antoine Delacroix. In his younger days he travelled much, reaching the far shores of the Land of the rising sun. It was the 16th century, the time of the Sengoku Jidai or The Warring States Period. It was a time of social upheaval, political intrigue, and nearly constant military conflict. It is there that Antoine was born for the darkness, from the fangs of the ancient samurai vampire Kuroyume-no Michikaze. Some time after that Antoine, now Sanc Merci, fought as a samurai himself. He made a great name for himself in Japan, the very thought of him sending shivers down the spine of his enemies. Many samurai who had faced him in battle said that he resembled a devil in armour and the fires of hell burned in his unhuman eyes; his two swords flashing through armour, flesh and bones as swiftly as the wind on the plains of Minatogahara.
