Vampire Israfel Marcellus
Character description
Israfel Marcellus stands at 5'6", has long black hair and silver eyes, and is a modern Goth, covered in piercings and tattoos. He was born on January 10th, 1985. He was originally born a twin, but due to prematurity both he and his brother were born silent, at risk of dying. Both were placed in incubaters, and while Israfel's twin's condition steadily worsened, his own gradually improved. At the moment his brother died, Israfel began to cry. His mother claimed the sound was "music to her ears", thus she named him after the angel with the sweetest voice of all God's creatures, and named his twin, for the sake of having something to put on the headstone, Douma--for the angel of silence.
After his mother's leaving in 1994, he suffered a steady string of beatings from his father throughout his childhood and into his teenage years. He became a drug and sex addict and an alcoholic, alone, with no friends, and fearing to report his father's abusive behaviour--he hated the idea of being traded off from family to family until child services dumped him off and left him to die anyway. This went on until he was turned by a vampire--referring to himself as "Marius", after the Vampire Chronicals character--at age sixteen. His father promptly disappeared without a trace.
Israfel is a killer--anyone and anything at any time, whenever he can, never running from a fight, never fearing for his "unlife" as he calls it. As he sees it, his vampirism is his way of cashing in God and karma's I.O.U. for the suffering he's gone through. He's conceited, rude, sharp-witted, clever, cynical, pessimistic, sociopathic, sadomasochistic, and occasionally shows signs of scitzophrenia. He's antisocial and prefers the quiet and dark within a small space--such as a closet--and even the company of rats over the presence of intelligent creatures.
Israfel often mumbles to himself quietly and has an odd habit of collecting things to stick in his many many pockets, ranging anywhere from keys to things he doesn't own anyway and foreign coins, to small dead animals and insects, severed fingers, rabbits' feet, rat bones, and sharp objects. He loves music, closed doors, small dark spaces, cemeteries, duct tape, and corpses.
