Werewolf Miiganqwa
Character description
"Wake up Binoojiing" her Grandmother shook her gently. Slowly opening her eyes to the bright sun shining into her longhouse, she rubbed them and sat up. Her Grandmother was always calling her a child.
"How late did I sleep Mishomis?" she asked her grandmother. "A little longer then a fox, and a little less then a bear.. now, get up, we have to get going and make the new camp befor sun sets." her grandmother said with a smile. Humming she walked out of the long house and headed towards her Uncles house.
As she stired and started to get up the dream slowly came back to her. With each vivid memory, she wondered how she could have forgotten.
Unbeknown to Miianqwa, this day was going to change her life. Fishing through the sacks, she found her shoes and shall. "The trickster shall come to you Daughter, and you will know the taist of life through pain." she remember him saying from her dream. Trying hard now to remember more of it as she drapped her shall over her shoulder and headed out into the sunlight, she remember something else about the Dreamwalker. He had changed in some way. Into a wolf, but not quite. Was this realy a Dreamwalker or was he one of the Skinwalkers of the old ways coming for her? if only she knew.
Then the sound of her Grandmother came from across the camp, waking her up fully and forgetting her dream. "Im coming Mishomis" she called out as she rushed to get the packs ready.
That was many years and many ages ago. "I wonder why that morning was any different then the others she though to herself. The Dreamwalker had come to her when she was very young. Stiring up from a long sleep that day, she was humming a song. It was one of those songs that you know the tune by heart without even thinking of it, but unable to remember where you had learned it from. As she walked, she heard the cry of the Maengun-win. Or at least, that is what her people called them. The Wolf-Walkers. But that was many years ago, and she herself is one now Miiganqwa reminded herself.
"If Mishomis will guide me, i may make it another day. But first breakfast seems to be in order. Her stomach grumbled at that thought, reminding her that she had not eaten for over a day. Looking up at the evening shy, she noticed the moon was waxing again. Knowing what the full moon brings her, she decided to find something to eat and begin her journey again through the woods, seeking a new town when all was safe. This is what Skinwalkers must do, if they are to avoid hurting anyone.
"Skinwalkers," she thought with a shiver, "If only I knew what that dream ment back in my Grandmothers Longhouse." Sighing, she said a prayer. While doing so, she opened a small poutch. Pulling out a blend of tabacoo, sage and some other odd herbs that a Midiwin-win gave her, she pulled her hand up to her forhead, then offered it to the sky.
Letting the herbal blend be picked up by the breeze, she turned towards the local Breakfast nook and started making plans for her next journey. "Here we go again," Miiganqwa said as she started to walk down that unknown path.
