Character description
Around 500 years ago (it was so long ago, I forget the exact year, just the day because it is my birthday) on April 22 a father, named Smurfpapa, and a mother, Smurfmama, were graced with the birth of their one and only son, which they named Smurfmcgee, after my grandfather.
As a kid I was full of energy and youthfulness. I had a neighbor who went by the name of Fornlo. He was a strange man, with pale skin and big black patches beneath his eyes, perhaps strangest of all, he always seemed to have a cape swirling about him. But even though he seemed strange,I was always drawn towards him. He would always treat me nicely, and told me that there were great things in my future. My parents seemed afraid of him but they never stepped in or said I couldn't see him.
As I grew up I saw less and less of Fornlo but every now and again, especially when I was in trouble, I would feel a presence and then I would feel safe again, as if the trouble had been taken care of. I was a happy young man until one terrible evening that I would never forget. I was walking home from my father's store (which was doing a booming business thanks to me and my quick bargaining skills) right about the time when the moon was at its strongest, when suddenly I hear a low growl close by. I start to walk quicker, but I can still hear that low growl, following my every step. Right about then I'm starting to get worried, and start to sprint towards my home and family. I hear a howl behind me and at that moment I know that it is a werewolf behind me!
The werewolf jumps over me and stops me dead in my tracks. He lunges towards me, going straight for my throat. But, when his fangs are an inch from my neck, I hear a familiar sound, one from my childhood. It was the soft swoosh of Fornlo's cape. As soon as I hear that wonderful sound, the werewolf falls back in a soft pile of fur. Fornlo is on him in a millisecond, instantly finishing him off.
Panting slightly, Fornlo turns to me and says, "Please, come with me."
I follow him to a small wooden house in the woods about a mile outside of town. Once I enter the building a small hush falls over the people gathered inside. All of them strangely similar to Fornlo, with black patches under their eyes, pale skin and a cape. It is at that point that the leader at the head of the table tells me a story.
"You might have guessed, we are the creatures of night, the monster in every shadow, we are vampires. We watch closely every generation for someone who may be suitable to join us. Fornlo here was your guardian to see if you would be able to join us, and that is why you are here tonight. The attack of that werewolf was not unexpected, and we take it as a sign that you are ready to learn of the war between vampires and werewolves, which has existed for centuries. It is at this time of need for the vampires that we need your assistance, it is time for you to join us."
After the Elder Vampire finishes his story, all the other vampires slowly get up, with their capes swishing silently through the air. They close around me, biting at will, ignoring my petty screams and futile attempts to escape, to get back to my wife, my family.
